I know a lot of the songs that will be put up with this one are about shitty ex-boyfriends,ex-girlfriends, etc. My song is about my Grandma. She was my best friend in the whole world for 16 years, and then because I'm arrogant and stupid, I just let it all fall apart. I forget that when my grandma was my age, places were still segregated. She was in her 30s when things became integrated. My grandma didn't have a racist bone in her body, she just thought that different races shouldn't have kids together. That always upset me. She didn't look at the couple, she looked at the child.
When my grandma started to lose grip on reality I looked at it from the point I still had time. I didn't have much though, I avoided calling her, because I'm stupid. The last time I spoke to my grandma was before Christmas in 2005. I told her I would call her again the next day, but I didn't. She died in January.
I miss my grandma, all the time. She was my best friend forever, and now she's gone. She took care of me my entire life, and then I left her alone to die. I never said I was a good person, but I pretend that I'm better than I really am.
